I read this book at a time in my life when it felt like the whole world was against me. I was going through a divorce, there were multiple layoffs at my job(including a close friend that I convinced to come work with me) and I had just had a huge amount of workload dumped on me with no extra pay. I very quickly fell into a victim cycle. This book helped me to See how I controlled my own destiny. By taking accountability into my own hands I was motivated to not let anyone or any event deny me from being successful. After reading this book and making a commitment to always strive to be above the line I was able to get a promotion, move on from my failed marriage, improve my health and complete my first Marathon and help others be successful in their own way. Many reviewers have degrade this book as corporate nonsense to make the employees take the blame. I won't deny that probably is the case in several companies, however, there are great lessons in this book that helped me realize that blaming corporate gets me nowhere. My actions have the ability to improve my situation, but rarely does playing the blame game ever produce desired results.

The book is very repetitive. Some examples do not add to enforcement of the content. Rather than repeatedly starting the altered names of clients to protect their privacy, it would be more effective to just use variables such as x company to denote pseudo names.The entire book can be summarized into a much smaller volume. It is, after all, a book on principles that does not give specific how-to guides.

Some people buy into this type of book. I am not one of them. I had to read it for work and found it elementary and extremely boring. Common sense ideas that are not revolutionary.

It has a good perspective. It is a little heavy in examples for me personally. They could cut a few examples and save some pages. I will say they have good real examples, just a lot of them.

The principles this book teaches are easy to understand and very usable for any manager. The analogies are well written too.

The print version has much more information and many, many more "real life examples", but the topics of each chapter are covered in this audio. If you're taking your own initiative and really want to learn something, then I recommend reading the book. If the book is required reading & you hate to read, but need enough information to get through a few corporate meetings, then this audio will probably do the trick.

This book is helpful not only in your work life but applying these principles in all aspects of life. I loved this book.

This book helped me reflect on my life. It helped me to think about certain life changing situations where I choose accountability over victimization and vice versa. The book helped me to understand there is a fine line between the two and its a normal struggle to hold yourself accountable. This book has really gave me some insight that I will use at this junction in my life (and in the future) to make new strategic personal goals.
